Habersham EMC (HEMC) linemen traveled to the Georgia Lineman’s Rodeo competition in May held at the Camp John Hope FCA-FCCLA Center in Fort Valley.
This year EMC apprentices competed in four events: hurtman rescue, PKR changeout and two mystery events. HEMC apprentice Jacob Banks competed in the events, coached by Isaac Wall.

The journeyman team from HEMC, led by Coach Chris Chapman, included Dillon Welborn, Coley Loudermilk and Ty Fry.

m won second place in the journeyman team PKR changeout event, third in the EMC division, and third overall.
“Events like the rodeo are about more than just competition. It’s a chance to see the pride, teamwork, and commitment to safety that our employees bring to work every day while serving our members. It’s also a time when the brotherhood really stands out.” says Cody Thomas, HEMC Director of Operations. “We’ve got a great family at HEMC, and while the guys spend a lot of time practicing and preparing, the real experience comes from the work they do in the field year-round. The rodeo gives us an opportunity to showcase those skills, learn, and continue growing as a team. That commitment to getting better every day is what helps us provide safe and reliable service to our members.”
The journeyman team will move on to compete in the National Lineman’s Rodeo in Kansas City in October.
