Habersham EMC Clarkesville Office to Open June 1, 2020
Habersham EMC will open the Clarkesville office to the general public beginning June 1. The office had been closed to walk-in traffic as part of the cooperative’s COVID-19 precautions, although the drive-thru remained open.
“We have implemented additional COVID-19 precautions in preparation for opening the office to the general public,” explains Whit Hollowell, Interim CEO. “Visitors will be able to conduct their cooperative business in-person by following the CDC guidelines.”
Some key changes, members should be aware of prior to visiting the Clarkesville office:
- A maximum of 10 visitors will be allowed into the building at one time.
- Visitors are asked to limit their number entering the building to the person conducting business.
- Please do not enter the building if you have symptoms of COVID-19.
- Visitors are encouraged to follow the 6’ social distancing markers and pathways.
In addition to those changes, HEMC has applied an extended release sanitization treatment to the publicly accessible areas and high-touch surfaces (such as door handles). Plexiglass barriers have also been added as preventative measures to safeguard the health of members and employees.
While opening the lobby is a step toward business as usual, not all HEMC facilities will be accessible. “At this time, we are not opening the Ray Meaders Community Room for public events. The Cleveland office will also remain closed due to the lack of space required for social distancing,” states Hollowell. “We hope to open these facilities as well by August, however those plans are dependent upon the COVID-19 crisis.”
