HEMC Temporarily Suspends Late Fees & Disconnects for Nonpayment

Posted: March 14, 2020

As a way to ease some of the stress our members are facing during this uncertain time, Habersham EMC is suspending disconnection of service for nonpayment effective immediately and will also waive late fees. This applies to all residential and business accounts within our service area until further notice. We understand many of our members have had to change their daily routines due to COVID-19 and may face financial hardships as a result. “Electricity has an essential role in preventing the spread of the virus and we want to do our part to help our members during this challenging time,” explains Whit Hollowell, Habersham EMC Acting CEO.

HEMC offices in Clarkesville and Cleveland remain open under normal operating hours. “We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as necessary based on CDC guidelines. Members can also take care of many business-related topics by phone, online or through the SmartHub app,” adds Hollowell.
