Operation Round Up and Operation Round Up Plus
Habersham EMC began Operation Round Up in April 2002. Members voluntarily participating in Operation Round Up have their electric bill "rounded up" to the next dollar. Beginning in the summer of 2010, members were able to request that their bill be "rounded up" by a specified dollar amount of their choice (example: $1, $3, $5, etc.). Through these programs, financial assistance can be provided to worthwhile activities and worthy individuals in the HEMC service area of Habersham, Hall, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens and White counties.
As the bylaws stipulate, these funds may not be used to pay power bills or for political contributions.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How will the money be used?
The Habersham EMC Foundation, Inc. board oversees Operation
Round Up and Operation Round Up Plus. Funds will be used, in accordance with the Foundation's
by-laws, to help with various needs in our community. The primary
purpose is to provide funds for special and individual needs,
particularly when help is not available through other channels. Rest
assured, 100% of the funds collected stay within the HEMC service area.
How do I join?
These programs are strictly voluntary. HEMC members may choose to participate in either Operation Round Up or Operation Round Up Plus; members may even participate in both programs if they choose. If you wish to participate, just click

HEMC realizes that many of our members already donate to their church

unique way to contribute small change each month that will make a big
difference when pooled together.
How long am I committed to participate in Operation Round Up or Operation Round Up Plus?
You may stay in the program as long as you like or decide to come out
of the program at any time. There is no specific commitment time.
Are these contributions tax deductible?
Yes. At the end of the year, HEMC will send out a donation summary
for your records.
Members Selected for Habersham EMC Foundation, Inc. Board
A voluntary board, made up of Habersham EMC members, has been
selected to administer the Operation Round Up program. Eight members, two
from each of the four HEMC districts and one at-large member will meet
bi-monthly to receive and evaluate all requests for funds and determine
how they will be distributed. All funds collected will remain local and be
distributed throughout the HEMC six-county service area. Applications for
Operation Round Up funds for either individuals/families or organizations
may be downloaded from the links below or picked up at the Habersham
EMC offices in Clarkesville or Cleveland.
