Operation Roundup

Habersham EMC began Operation Round Up in April 2002. Through this program, financial assistance can be provided to worthwhile activities and worthy individuals in the HEMC service area of Habersham, Hall, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens and White counties.

These funds are collected from HEMC members who voluntarily participate in the program by allowing their monthly bill to be rounded up to the next dollar. The change then goes into a fund administered by the volunteer board, who screens and awards requests for funds. The average donation that a member makes is 50 cents a month. Donations are tax deductible.

As the bylaws stipulate, these funds may not be used to pay power bills or for political contributions.

Frequently Asked Questions:

The primary purpose is to provide funds for special and individual needs, particularly when help is not available through other channels. Rest assured, 100% of the funds collected stay within the HEMC service area.
