Habersham EMC Announces $2.5 Million Rate Decrease
Habersham EMC's Board of Directors has approved a rate decrease for its members by reducing the Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment (WPCA) factor for the remainder of 2018. This reduction will benefit almost every Habersham EMC (HEMC) member.
In November 2018, HEMC members will save $28.00 for every 1,000 kWh used, resulting in a total savings of approximately $2.5 million for the membership. The actual savings will vary depending on the amount of energy used. Since the WPCA factor varies, the December reduction will be announced in the first week of December 2018.
The WPCA factor reflects the fluctuations in HEMC's cost of wholesale power purchased. This adjustment to the WPCA will lower the electricity rate for almost every HEMC member on their energy bills during November and December 2018.
